The third quarter of 2023 saw some interesting trends in performance for the top News and Magazines apps in Finland, based on data from Sensor Tower. Here’s a closer look at the weekly downloads, revenue, and active users for the leading apps in this category.

Yle displayed a significant spike in weekly downloads, especially in early September, peaking at approximately 19.4K in the week of September 11. Although there was no revenue generated, the app maintained a steady increase in weekly active users, reaching around 39K by the end of September.

IS – Ilta-Sanomat from Sanoma Media Finland showed a relatively stable weekly revenue, with figures hovering around $700 to $1.3K. Downloads remained consistent, with minor fluctuations, reaching up to 1.9K in some weeks. Active users stayed robust, averaging around 200K throughout the quarter.

Helsingin Sanomat, also from Sanoma Media Finland, experienced a steady weekly revenue, mostly between $6.4K and $8.7K. Weekly downloads were stable, peaking at 2K in early September. Active users remained strong, averaging around 220K to 235K during the quarter.

Iltalehti had a varied weekly revenue pattern, ranging from about $4.5K to $6.5K. Weekly downloads were relatively stable with minor dips, peaking at 2.2K in mid-July. Active users hovered around 73K to 79K throughout the quarter.

Lastly, Maaseudun Tulevaisuus showed no revenue but had a consistent weekly download rate, with figures ranging from 300 to 700.
